Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed bilateral relations, regional and global developments during a phone call on Monday, Turkey’s Communications Directorate said.
According to the directorate, Erdogan said Turkey is committed to strengthening its relations with Germany and stressed the importance of continuing reciprocal efforts to advance bilateral cooperation.
Erdogan also said Turkey expects a “strong commitment” at the upcoming NATO summit to strengthen Europe’s defense and preserve the transatlantic bond.
Addressing the Russia-Ukraine war, Erdogan said Turkey is working to achieve a lasting peace and help resume negotiations between the parties, according to the directorate.
