Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev upon his arrival in Baku on Thursday, regarding to what the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
A later statement by the Azerbaijani presidency said that Aliyev and Fidan stressed on the successful development of bilateral relations in all fields during the meeting.
Furthermore the statement added that the meeting emphasized mutual visits and contacts at the heads of state and other levels contributed to further strengthening of cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
“During the conversation, confidence was expressed that our relations will be further strengthened in all directions,” the statement also said, adding that exchange of views also took place on other issues of mutual interest.
Fidan will also meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, according to media source.
It is worth mentioning that, Turkey became the first state to recognize Azerbaijan, which declared independence in 1991.
Ankara’s relations with Baku are multifaceted and at the strategic level, in order ro strengthen bilateral ties, the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council mechanism was established in 2010.
