President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that Turkey is closely monitoring developments in Yemen and Somalia, emphasizing the need to maintain stability and protect the territorial integrity of both countries.
Erdogan made the remarks during a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in which the two leaders discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues, according to a statement from Turkey’s Communications Directorate.
The Turkish president said Ankara is ready to support efforts to bring together rival factions in Yemen, underlining Turkey’s commitment to diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the conflict.
He added that Turkey intends to take further steps in the coming days to deepen cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
Addressing the situation in Gaza, Erdogan warned that the humanitarian crisis is worsening with the arrival of winter, stressing that Turkey continues to push for a lasting ceasefire and the reconstruction of the war-ravaged enclave.
