U.S. rapper Travis Scott’s first-ever concert in Turkey sparked widespread criticism on Sunday, with many attendees expressing disappointment over the performance’s duration and the artist’s limited interaction with the crowd.
The highly anticipated event, held at Tersane Istanbul, had generated months of excitement among fans and attracted thousands of concertgoers eager to witness Scott’s debut appearance in the country.
However, audience members said the performance fell short of expectations. According to attendees, Scott took the stage nearly an hour later than scheduled and performed for approximately 20 minutes before leaving, prompting criticism from sections of the crowd.
Videos shared on social media appeared to show some concertgoers booing following the performance, while online discussions about the event quickly gained momentum.
Several attendees also commented on the artist’s stage appearance, noting that much of his face remained covered by clothing and accessories throughout the show.
The concert had already attracted significant public attention during ticket sales because of its premium pricing. Some ticket categories were reportedly sold for as much as 50,000 Turkish liras (around $1,300), while resale prices on secondary markets were said to have reached considerably higher levels.
Ahead of the event, local media described the concert as one of the most expensive music performances ever staged in Turkey, contributing to heightened expectations among fans.
Following the show, thousands of social media posts criticized what users described as the brief nature of the performance, with many arguing that audience expectations had not been met. The concert’s duration and the perceived lack of engagement with attendees emerged as the most frequently cited concerns, fueling broader debate online about the overall experience.
Neither Scott nor the event organizers immediately commented on the criticism circulating on social media.
