Turkey’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran on Sunday described the Ceasefire and Full Integration Agreement in Syria as a strategic breakthrough toward the establishment of a “terror-free region,” a core policy objective consistently emphasized by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In a statement published on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Duran said the implementation of the agreement would be subject to strict and continuous monitoring, stressing that the latest developments were neither accidental nor temporary, but rather the culmination of long-standing principles, warnings and policy positions articulated by the Turkish leadership over the years.
Duran underscored that sustainable stability in Syria hinges on safeguarding the rights of all ethnic and sectarian communities through equal citizenship, noting that inclusivity and state authority are essential pillars of any lasting political order.
“A unified Syria that preserves its territorial integrity and is fully cleansed of terrorist organizations is indispensable to regional peace and security,” Duran said, adding that steps taken by the Syrian government in this direction carry critical weight.
He said Turkey remains a decisive actor both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table, pointing to ongoing counterterrorism operations that have helped establish a secure zone along Turkey’s borders, alongside intensive diplomatic efforts aimed at shaping Syria’s future.
“Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable for Turkey,” Duran said, adding that Ankara considers its neighbor’s security inseparable from its own and approaches the issue with peace as a guiding principle and regional stability as a strategic priority.
